Bradley Kaufman is the First Deputy Medical Director for the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY). He is the Medical Director for Communications/Emergency Medical Dispatch and the EMS Bureau of Training. He also serves as a Medical Specialist with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) New York Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team and sits on both the New York State Emergency Medical Advisory Committee (SEMAC) and the State Emergency Medical Services Council (SEMSCO).
Dr. Kaufman began his career as an EMT while an undergraduate at Cornell University. He earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan before completing specialty training in Emergency Medicine at Montefiore and Jacobi Medical Centers in the Bronx, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Kaufman completed a Fellowship in Emergency Medical Services with FDNY and earned a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Columbia University. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) in both Emergency Medicine and EMS Medicine, and maintains a clinical practice of emergency medicine as an Attending Physician at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY, and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
